Easter Sunday

Yes I know it was quite a while ago now, but haven't yet shared with you my photos from the day, so here I am showing off my new haircut and dress.

Did you ever see anything like this?

Falling in love with Mid-Centry Modern

It has only been since I started blogging that I have developed a taste for Mid-Century Modern interiors. My interest has been sparked in part with thanks to the likes of Dottie Angel and sfgirlbybay and thier beautiful homes, but I also think it is something to do with being my age and being able to look back to things from my childhood in a new light.
Yesterday my lovely mum and I went thrifting and visited the YMCA shop in Swansea.  Can I just say AMAZING!  If I had a bigger house I would definately have left there with some fantastic pieces of furniture, at the very least a sideboard, a dressing table and some chairs.  As it stood I left with two glass jugs and a hair band!

Take a look at these gorgeous photos to whet your appetite for Mid-Century Modern:

Looking for 1940's/1950's clothes

After visiting Winston Churchill's old gaff  "Chartwell"  today I have been fantasising about wearing more 1940's/1950's clothes.  I really like the style, it is simple and feminine.
At a recent friend's wedding I bought a 1940's inspired dress from a charity shop and teamed it with seamer tights and a faux flower which I wore behind my ear:

My poor old sister had a time taking any photo of me that was half decent because at this point I had had two glasses of Pimms and thus was feeling a little silly!  But I think you get the gist.

So now I am inspired to buy more 1940's style clothes and have been scouring the internet to see what I can find.

Found this website vivienofholloway which has some pretty cool stuff, but it is a bit pricey:

Then of course there is ebay which has come up with some pretty cool finds:

SIMPLY BE PinUp 50s PolkaDot Tea DRESS Size 12-28 BLACK

But the Ebay is always a risk I feel, especially with clothes and not knowing the size and whether it can be returned.   Anyone have any ideas for good places to buy 1940's style clothes?  I think if I am really to pull of the 1940's style I will need to lose some weight...

Etsy favorites

We are having a new boiler fitted this week so have plenty of time to sit around browsing the internet.  Today I have been satisfying my current obsession for 1950's fasions, household items and accessories.  I really wanted a tea dress or a Rockabilli dress and I was pondering whether or not they would suit me, so decided to go into town and try on some dresses, there is not a lot of 1950's style on the high street at the moment but I did find a few about and a couple accidentally got bought! Oops. They are from H&M but sadly their website does not show the dresses I bought, I will have to post some pictures of me wearing them at some point.
Check out these gorgeous finds on Etsy. If only my husband earned bags of money and could keep me at home all day (and pay for the wonderful 1950's items!)
