Yesterday I saw two flocks of Canada Geese fly overhead. Whenever I see them at about this time every year I always feel a bit sad, it really is the end of summer and the sight and sound of the Geese reminds me. I am always amazed when I think about the epic journey they are about the embark on and it fills me with awe. It also brings back fond memories of the first holiday my husband and I went on when we were students to the Isle of Wight. At our camp site there was a resident flock of Geese whom we got to know quite well, we gave them names; Fat Neck, Shy One and Hisser (imaginative I know) I am sure you can guess what characteristics they had from their names!! It seems to me that they almost take the summer with them then bring it back in the spring, I always associate the change of seasons with the migration of the Geese.
I took this photo back in June at a National Trust place.
In other news I have recently become a fan of Dolly Parton, and especially love her song "Better get a livin" the lyrics really inspire me, and I have bought her autobiography (still waiting for it to arrive from America, apparently it wasn't even published in the UK!) because she seems to have had a really inspirational life. Here is the video for her song, (boy is she thin!)
Oooh, I also have to tell you that I sold my chick salt and pepper shakers, that I only put in my shop for sale yesterday!! Amazing, I have to say I have sold more on Etsy since they changed the way you search for items, I am liking it a lot.
I love the Canada geese. Here I saw a large 'V' formation of egrets flying yesterday evening. As they don't usually make that formation around us, I wondered if they were doing in in preparation for migration too. I read an article about Dolly Parton which was really impressive - I bet that autobiography's going to be a great read (when it arrives!)
I love reading people's comments on what I have written, but I am not in the business of debating, this blog is my space, so if you can't say something nice, the please, don't say anything at all. If you don't like what I have written then please don't read it.
